FAQs

How do I join in?

Chats will be advertised in advance.  You need to be online at the advertised date and time.  Go to @BMAGayle profile page.  Introduce yourself with a tweet using #BMAScotChat, and wait for the questions to begin.

How do I answer?

Each question will be preceded by Q1, Q2 and will contain the hashtag.  When answering, answer in the format

A1...(answer)...#BMAScotChat

Who can see the chat?

The chat is public so do be mindful of your professional profile, and don't use this as a means for personal advice or raising grievances.  The BMA will provide support for this through the usual channels.  This is just for informal chat and awareness of our campaigns.

Can I read it afterwards?

Yes, you can see the full chat history by searching the hashtag.  We will also post a chat summary after the event.  Once established, chats can move very quickly, so this is a good way to make sure you didn't miss anything.

Why should I join in?

Tweetchats are an excellent way to use Twitter professionally.  It's an opportunity to discuss topics with peers (and often beyond).  If you struggle to make it along to any of our BMA events, this is a good way to engage with us.

Do I have to be a BMA member?

No, you don't have to be a member, but at the end of each chat, we will post a link to our website, where you can join if you wish.
Some links and follow up events we post at the end may be member only, or will be at a reduced rate for members if they are fee paying.
